Variety Charity Runner
Want to be guaranteed a spot in the 2012 Santa Hustle? This hot (cold!) race is anticipated to sell out this year, so the only way to be sure you’re one of the 8,000 Santas running along the lakefront is to be a Variety Charity Runner.
As a Variety Charity Runner, you will be running to raise money for Variety’s programs for disabled and disadvantaged kids of the state. Throughout our 75 year history, Variety’s been a leader in taking care of kids. Our major programs Kids on the Go! and Live to Achieve! aim to help disabled kids achieve their dreams by granting customized wheelchairs, adapted sports equipment and other mobility aids and support disabled athletes’ training expenses, so there is no limit on where they can go.

You rock the Santa hat and beard look! Be part of the funnest race of the winter season! Help disabled & disadvantaged kids of your area! Prize for the individuals and teams that raise the most for Variety! Give back to the community!
Here’s what you can do:
Individual: $150 minimum fundraising goal supports ongoing programs like play groups for kids with learning disabilities or autism spectrum disorders
Grab a few friends and form a team.
Harness the power of positive peer pressure and networking and together raise money to buy a sports wheelchair for a disabled athlete or send a Downs Syndrome child to adapted summer camp. (Each team member must register separately.)
Double Your Impact
Does your company have a matching grant program? Ask at work! Variety The Children’s Charity is a 501(c)3 organization, federal tax identification number 36-1908475. All donations above the fair market value of the race ($40/runner) are tax deductible.
Fundraising
As a Variety Charity Runner, you promise to fundraise a minimum amount for Variety – The Children’s Charity of Illinois. If the minimum amount is not met by packet pick-up day, Variety will charge your credit card the balance. See our Registration Form for all the details.

Volunteer
Grab a group of friends and be one of Santa’s little helpers - As official charity of the Santa Hustle, Variety is recruiting 250 volunteers to staff the race course. Ensure a fun and safe race for the runners & wheelchair athletes and have a blast yourself. Everything from set-up to goody bag stuffing to manning the cookie and candy stations – it’s all going to be great fun. Volunteers are the heart and soul of the race, and we couldn’t do it without you! All volunteers receive a t-shirt, elf hat, beverages, and food at the event.
